Staff
Chris Adams, who was a reservist in the Marines, left us after many years to join the Marines on a permanent basis. We wish him well and hope to stay in touch.
In his place, we took on Paul Ray who has agreed to work on a part time / weather permitting basis. Paul is known to many local people as until recently he was one of the local police officers.
Because of health issues, Alan does not work on the river (except for the odd occasion when his expertise helps in positioning a block).
Weather
We are continuing to be frustrated by bad weather which prevents us working. We can only work on the river when weather and tides permit. Spring tides only give us a short time window of slack tide in which to work.
Saltash Sailing Club annual surveys
We started on these after the Christmas break, as usual, and we were going well until the weather turned freezing.
Computers
Alan's business, Top End Computers, builds, repairs and upgrades computers as well as sorting out a variety of software issues, including worms, trojans and viruses. He charges £15 per hour.
Microsoft's new operating system, Vista, requires powerful computers to run it. Having looked at the various versions, Alan recommends Vista Ultimate if the computer and the budget can take it.
